This historic house in downtown Columbia is listed as a National Historic Landmark. Similar to many of his other buildings, the Mills House is a brick structure with a symmetrical exterior and interior. It reflects the architect's style, with a large porch dominating the front of the building. A formal garden has been planted outside the house for the year-round enjoyment of guests.

The Hampton-Preston Mansion is located across the street.
