Parks and recreation areas
- Caesars Head State Park
Caesars Head Park offers some of the most spectacular mountain overlooks in the state. The area has over fifty miles of hiking trails through the mountainous terrain, which are suitable for a wide range of abilities. Several primitive camping areas are available along the trails.
- Campbell's Covered Bridge
Built in 1909, Campbell's Covered Bridge is the last remaining covered bridge in South Carolina. It is located in the northeastern part of Greenville County, near the small town of Gowensville, and is no longer open to motor vehicles.
- Cleveland Park of Greenville
This downtown recreation area is located along the banks of the Reedy River and Richland Creek. You will find here a variety of sports facilities, a rock quarry garden, a nature trail, and a large playground. The Swamp Rabbit Trail is a great place for walking or bicycling.
- Falls Park
This recreation area offers dramatic views of the waterfalls on the Reedy River — right in downtown Greenville! In addition, there are several gardens, terraces, walking paths, and an amphitheater.
- Greenville Zoo
Enjoy wildlife from around the world at this zoo in downtown Greenville. It features two African elephants, several primates, and other African animals. In addition to the wild animal exhibits, the zoo contains a farm exhibit which features domestic animals and a reptile house.
- Linky Stone Park
Tucked away in a small space between a creek and a road, under a highway bridge, you will find this great children's park in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. The Children's Garden provides a fun and educational experience for them. A paved hiking and bicycling trail, known as the Swamp Rabbit Trail, passes through here also. It connects this park to Falls Park, Cleveland Park, and the Greenville Zoo.
- McPherson Park
Located in a creek valley in downtown Greenville, this area provides a nice relaxing escape. Several scenic walking trails wind through the park past playgrounds, trees, gazebos, waterfalls, ponds, and a miniature golf course.
- Paris Mountain State Park
This mountainside park is an important scenic green space in the fast-growing Greenville area. Bicyclists, hikers, picnickers, and groups using Camp Buckhorn keep the park busy all year long. Summer is the peak time for fishing and swimming in the park lakes.
